ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure Athletics Department produced another impressive semester of academic success as Bonnies student-athletes compiled a 3.398 overall grade point average for the Fall 2024 semester.

"We are incredibly proud of the performance of our student-athletes academically, as well as athletically, during the Fall semester," said Vice President & Director of Athletics Bob Beretta. "Our Bonnies are true scholar-athletes in every sense and continue to represent St. Bonaventure University with great character and dignity in their competitive arenas and in the classroom."

It marks the 39th consecutive semester that St. Bonaventure student-athletes have boasted a department GPA of better than 3.0 – a run of nearly two full decades. Further, the department cumulative GPA is 3.372.

The Fall 2024 semester saw 79 percent of Bona's student-athletes (306 out of 389) post a GPA of 3.0 or better. Fifty-five percent of Bonnies student-athletes achieved a 3.5 semester GPA or better (213 of 389) while 77 percent (301) boast a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Twenty-three scholar-athletes feature a cumulative GPA of 4.0.

Eighteen Bonaventure Division I programs saw their team GPA surpass 3.0 while 14 teams earned a GPA of 3.4 or higher during the most recent semester. Bonnies softball earned the crown of highest team GPA at 3.675 while the highest academic achieving male squad was men's soccer at 3.624.

"It is quite a testament to the culture of this department that 18 intercollegiate athletic teams recorded term grade-point averages above 3.0 and 14 programs posted grade-point averages of at least 3.4," Beretta added. "To have 51 of our Bona scholar-athletes post perfect 4.0 grade-point averages last semester is simply amazing. While we strive to win championships the 'right' way, achieving academic excellence will always be our highest priority. Our scholar-athletes continue to live that mantra every single day. I'd like to thank our staff, coaches and of course, our wonderful faculty, for all they do to assist in our scholar-athletes' pursuit of comprehensive excellence."
