The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team begins Atlantic 10 play Wednesday, Dec. 3 on the road at Saint Louis. Tipoff is slated for 8:00 p.m. ET at Chaifetz Arena.
CSU INVITATIONAL LOOKBACK
The Bonnies went 2-1 at the CSU Invitational hosted by Cleveland State with their only loss coming to the Vikings, 75-71, Wednesday evening. Bona's best Radford, 55-45, Friday afternoon before taking down Valparaiso on Saturday, 87-55.
ALL-TOURNAMENT TEAM
Laycee Drake earned a spot on the CSU Invitational All-Tournament Team after averaging 15.7 points, 6.3 rebounds, 3.0 steals and 1.7 assists per game while shooting 43.9 percent from the floor, helping the Bonnies to wins over Radford and Valparaiso. In Wednesday's game against Cleveland State, Drake poured in 23 points on 9-of-16 shooting to go along with six steals. Drake chipped in seven points and eight rebounds in the Bonnies win over Radford Friday evening. In Saturday's finale vs. Valparaiso, Drake tallied 17 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.
For the season, Drake leads the Bonnies in scoring and rebounding, averaging 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game. She ranks third in the Atlantic 10 in made field goals (54), fifth in field goal percentage (48.2 percent) and free throw percentage (86.2 percent) as well as seventh in scoring (16.1 ppg).
BENCH SPARK
The Bonnies currently sit third in the Atlantic 10 in bench points per game this season, averaging 27.6 points from reserves.
Brianna Barr-Buday provided a spark for the Brown and White last week, averaging 9.3 points and 2.7 rebounds while shooting 81.3 percent from the field. In Wednesday's matchup against Cleveland State, Barr-Buday chipped in 10 points and two rebounds on a perfect 5-for-5 from the floor in 11 minutes off the bench. In Saturday's win over Valpo, Barr-Buday scored a career-high 16 points and pulled down four rebounds, shooting 7-for-8 from the floor in 11 minutes.
DEFENSE MAKING PLAYS
Bona's currently ranks second in the A-10 in scoring defense, allowing just 56.7 points per game this season. The Bonnies have held opponents to 60 or less points in five out of eight games this season, sporting a 5-0 record in those contests. The Brown and White's +12.2 scoring margins sits third in the Atlantic 10.
The Bonnies are holding opponents to a 24.2 shooting percentage from three-point range, ranking third in the Atlantic 10 and 26th in the NCAA.
CRASHING THE GLASS
The Bonnies are averaging 38.1 rebounds per game this season, a mark that ranks fifth in the Atlantic 10. Bona's sits second in the A-10 in rebounding margin (+6.6) and are third in defensive rebounds per game (27.1).
Bona's has registered five games this season with 40 or more rebounds.
NET RANKINGS
The Bonnies have made a significant jump in the NET Rankings to begin the 2025-26 season. The first NET Rankings of the season were released Dec. 1 with the Bonnies sitting at 182. The Brown and White finished last season ranked 353 in the NET Rankings.
SAINT LOUIS NOTES
- Saint Louis enters the week 2-6 on the year, capturing wins over Northern Illinois and SMU. The Billikens finished last season 15-19 overall and 7-11 in Atlantic 10 play. SLU was picked to finish ninth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
- The Billikens are coached by Rebecca Tillett who is in her fourth season in charge, touting a 56-61 record with SLU. Tillett is in her eighth season overall as a head coach with a 107-129 record. She guided the Billikens to a WNIT Championship in 2023-24.
- Alexia Nelson leads Saint Louis on the offensive end this season, averaging 14.8 points per game. Zya Nugent and Zhykera Brown are also averaging double figures, chipping in 14.6 and 11.3 points per game, respectively. On the glass, Alyssa Koerkenmeier is grabbing a team-high 8.1 rebounds per game.
SERIES HISTORY
The Bonnies and Billikens are set to meet for the 22nd time Wednesday evening at Chaifetz Arena. The Billikens lead the all-time series 12-9. The two sides split the season series last season with the Bonnies taking down the Billikens at home Jan. 8, 68-66, but SLU got the better of the Bonnies in the first round of the Atlantic 10 Tournament, defeating the Brown and White, 60-50.
The Bonnies are just 2-7 all-time on the road vs. Saint Louis. Bonnies head coach Jim Crowley is 9-4 all-time against the Billikens.
