ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's tennis team fell to Mercyhurst, 4-3, Friday morning at the University Fitness Center.
The Bonnies were able to take the early lead, winning the doubles point from the Lakers.
The duo of Connor Turner and Chase Cahill-Welsh defeated Danlyo Rekun and Sviatoslav Koliadynskyi at No. 1, 6-3. Anargha Ganguly and Alex Kim clinched the doubles point at No. 2, taking down David Mengher and Colm Schultz, 6-2.
Ganguly and Cahill-Welsh captured wins in singles action for the Brown and White.
At No. 2, Ganguly bested Lukas Cabue Valverde in straight sets, 6-4, 7-5, while Cahill-Welsh beat Schultz at No. 3 in two sets, 6-3, 6-3.
The Lakers, however, scored wins at No. 1, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 6 singles, earning the team win.
The Bonnies are back in action Sunday, March 23 when they travel to take on Notre Dame in South Bend. That match is slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
