Bonnies Score Rivalry Win Over Canisius

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team built an early lead and scored a Little Three rivalry win, 13-6, Wednesday afternoon vs. Canisius.

Bonaventure got on the board first in the bottom of the third inning.

After two walks to begin the inning, Chris Hoalcraft shot a single into right field to bring in both runners. Jayce Tharnish followed up with a double down the left field line, bringing Hoalcraft around to score. Tharnish came in to score on the next at-bat when David Marshall Jr. sent a single into right field.

The Griffs responded in the fourth with a run of their own, coming on a sacrifice fly to left field.

The Bonnies added three more runs to their lead in the bottom of the fourth.

After having two batters reach to begin the inning, Gavin Constantine started another rally with a bunt back to the mound, bringing in the first run of the inning. Bonaventure added another on a passed ball to the next batter.

Bona plated their seventh run of the game later in the inning. With the based loaded, Marshall sent a single to right field to plate one for a 7-1 cushion.

Canisius answered Bonaventure in the next inning.

After walking the bases loaded to start the inning, the Bonnies allowed two runs to score on a passed ball and sacrifice fly. With a runner on third with one out, JC Spinosa sent a two-run bomb over the left field wall, cutting the Bonaventure lead to 7-5.

Bonaventure stretched their lead out again in the sixth.

Tharnish plated the first run of the inning, stealing third before advancing home on a throwing error. Later, Constantine added two more RBIs to his stellar day with a two-out, two-strike single to left field.

Conor Wolf picked up the win for Bonaventure on the mound, throwing two strong innings in relief while allowing one run on two hits. Jaxson Ross started and worked 4.2 innings, allowing five runs with two strikeouts.

Tharnish had three hits and two stolen bases while Marshall collected three hits as well. Constantine drove in three runs while Vercollone and Brian Carrothers both had two hits.

The Bonnies next head to Rhode Island for a three-game Atlantic 10 road series starting Friday.
