A native of Turkey, Batuk enters his second season as anassistant coach for both the men’s and women’sprograms.

Prior to coming to St. Bonaventure, Batuk was a tennis letterwinnerat Troy University where he graduated in 2006 with a BusinessAdministration degree. Most recently, Batuk has worked atSaddlebrook Tennis Academy in Florida with top ATP, WTA and ITFplayers such as John Isner (ATP top 30), Victoria Azarenka ( WTAtop 10), Aleksandra Wozniak ( WTA top 40) and Sacha Jones ( WTA top150).

In 2010, he traveled with Alexandra Stevenson as a practice partner(former WTA top 20 and Wimbledon semifinalist).  During hiscollegiate career – which extended to Mars Hill College until2009 because of remaining eligibility – Batuk was part of ateam which finished second in the SAC Conference and was named anITA Scholar Athlete.

Prior to coming to the United States, Batuk competed in future proand junior circuits in Turkey, Bulgaria and Romania from 2005-06.He also served as a tennis instructor and player at BerlinTennis Academy in Germany in 2005. In that same year he was afinalist at the Dragos Open Private Tournament in Turkey andchampion of the Middle East College Private Tournament in singlesand doubles.

In 2005, Batuk was rated as a top-15 player in all of Turkey in theUnder-18 age group, and in 2002 was rated as a top-20 player in allof Turkey in the Under-16 age group.
