Erik Hoops is entering his second year as the head coach of the St. Bonaventure men’s golf team.

In his first season, Hoops guided the Brown and White to a third place finish in the Colgate Invitational and a sixth place finish in the Cape Fear National Intercollegiate.

Prior to coming to St. Bonaventure, Hoops was an assistant coach for two seasons at the University of Toledo under respected coach Jamie Broce.  There, Hoops helped the Rockets finish third in the 2014 Mid-American Conference championship tournament and second in the same tournament in 2013.

In the summer of 2012, Hoops worked as an operations assistant at the PGA Championship in Kiawah Island, S.C. He also has been on the golf staff at the Inverness Club in his native Toledo, Ohio.

Hoops enjoyed a standout career at Loyola-Chicago, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and sport management in 2012. A four-year letterwinner, he capped his career as a senior when he helped his team win the Horizon League Championship.  Hoops was the team captain as a senior and also was a member of Loyola’s student-athlete advisory committee.
