The GoBonnies.com Female Athlete of the Week presented by CPL for the week ending March 26 is softball junior Emily Phelan.
Phelan was 2-2 in the circle in five starts last week, helping the Bonnies to a 3-2 record, including their first Atlantic 10 win of the season. She registered 24 strikeouts over 25.2 innings of work and allowed just four extra-base hits.
She started her week with a two-hit shutout against Buffalo Tuesday afternoon, striking out a season-high eight batters.
In Saturday’s matchup with Fordham, Phelan went the distance, striking out seven in the complete game effort.
Phelan got the ball in game two of Sunday’s doubleheader and struck out five while issuing just a pair of walks. During Sunday’s game, Phelan moved into fifth place on the Bonnies all-time strikeout list with 186 career strikeouts.
