March 5, 2008

Final Stats

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure women's lacrosse team opened the 2008 season and the Christie Malone era by hitting the rare 20-goal plateau. Unfortunately, for the Bonnies so did Marist, as the Red Fox outscored the Bonnies 24-20 on Wednesday afternoon in their season opener.

Four players finished with hat tricks for the Brown and White as they converted 20 of their 39 shots for goals. Despite not being one of those four players, senior Brenna Houghton broke her own school record with eight assists and tied the school mark for points in a game with 10. With her career-best 10 points, Houghton vaults into fifth place on the all-time scorers list with 152 points.

The senior duo of Stephanie Jordan and Kimberly Ross combined for nine points, as both contributed four goals. Junior Keri Vito and sophomore Patty Nessle rounded out the hat tricks.

St. Bonaventure held a slight 11-10 lead at the break, but was outscored 5-1 in the opening six and half minutes of the second half.
