ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team (1-8) will host Siena College (4-4) at McGraw-Jennings Field Sunday at 4 p.m.
The Bonnies enter the contest following a 3-2 loss to Niagara at home last Sunday. Following a 2-2 halftime score, St. Bonaventure allowed the game-winning goal in the 83rd minute to Niagara's Bryan Da Cruz. Through nine games, junior midfielder Brad Vanino leads the team with two assists and four points. Vanino, junior Brad Beumont, junior Emmett O'Connor, sophomore Garrett Pasono and senior Adam Scott have each scored one goal for the Bonnies.
The Siena Saints, members of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference come into Sunday's game following a 2-1 home victory over the University of Albany last Sunday, the team's second straight victory. Senior forward Sindre Ek, an Oslo, Norway native, leads the team with six goals, including a goal and assist win a 2-0 win over Albany. With that goal, he moved into a tie for 10th on the all time scoring list in Siena history.
These two schools last met in 2009 at Siena. On that day, Siena came away with a 3-2 victory over the Bonnies. Siena holds the edge in the all-time series 3-2-1. However, St. Bonaventure has a 2-0-1 record in the series at home.
Following Sunday's game, the Bonnies will begin Atlantic 10 Conference play in Philadelphia against Temple Friday, Oct. 5 at 2:30 p.m.
