The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team continues conference play on the road at Duquesne on Saturday (Oct. 19). Through the first two conference games, the Bonnies are 1-1 entering this matchup.
Scouting the Bonnies
- This will be the Bonnies fourth straight road game.
- SBU has a record of 3-3-1 on the road this season.
- The team is coming off a two-game road trip in which they began their conference schedule. SBU defeated Saint Joseph's 2-0 in the conference opener (Oct. 11) and lost to La Salle 2-1 (Oct. 13).
- Seniors Nicholas Perillo and Emmett O'Connor each scored their team-high 5th goal during the road trip, Perillo's goal serving as the game-winner against SJU and O'Connor's serving as the Bonnie's lone goal against La Salle.
- O'Connor and Perillo are both ranked 4th in the Atlantic 10 in goals in all games.
- In first two conference games, senior James Reed has fired four total shots and put three of them on net. His accuracy has paid off, as he hammered home the second goal against Saint Joe's to help secure the Bonnies victory.
Scouting the Duquesne Dukes
- Duquesne welcomes the Bonnies with a strong 4-0 record at home.
- The Dukes are coming off a 3-0 routing of Saint Joseph's (Oct. 13), preceded by a 3-1 loss to La Salle (Oct. 11).
- This will be the first home game for the Dukes since Sept. 8th .
- Junior Josh Ellis leads Duquesne with three goals on the season.
- Senior Simon Gomez has also produced lately, as he scored the lone goal in their loss to La Salle and had an assist against Saint Joe's. Gomez has played in just 4 games thus far.
- Not only have the Dukes not lost a game at home, but they have also not given up a goal at home. This can be attested to their strong defense and stellar goal keeping by sophomore Sam Frymier, who has played every minute of every game this season and has a goals against average of less than one (0.99).
Previous Meetings
- Duquesne came out on top last year 3-1 in the Bonnie's conference home opener on Oct. 14.
- The Bonnies are 0-1-2 in the previous three meetings with the Dukes.
- SBU's last win against Duquesne came in Oct. 25, 2008, with a score of 2-0.
