ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's basketball team (14-15, 7-9 Atlantic 10) lost to Fordham (7-24, 3-13 A-10) on Senior Day in the Reilly Center on Saturday afternoon, 76-72. Youssou Ndoye scored a career-high 17 points, while Demitrius Conger and Eric Mosley also scored 17 points with Conger grabbing a team-high six rebounds.

With the loss, George Washington's win and Charlotte's win, the Bonnies are eliminated from A-10 Championship contention.

Chris Gaston and Mandell Thomas each scored a game-high 22 points for Fordham. It is the Rams' first win at St. Bonaventure since Jan. 28, 2009 – which is also Fordham's last A-10 road win.

The Bonnies controlled the tempo early and took their first double-digit lead of the game, 35-24, at the 6:31 mark on a Marquise Simmons layup. However, that was SBU's largest lead of the game as Fordham gradually chipped away and trailed by just six at the half, 41-35. The Rams continued outplaying the Bonnies at the outset of the second half and eventually took a nine-point lead, 55-46, midway through the second half. The run for the Rams – to go from down 11 to up nine – was 29-11 over the span of 13 minutes bridging both halves.

Knowing that a win would clinch a tournament berth, Bonaventure fought back from the nine-point deficit with a 17-4 run over six minutes to take a 63-59 lead on a Conger 3-pointer with 6:48 left. However, Fordham responded with a 10-0 run to take a 69-63 lead, and the Bonnies weren't able to get closer than one the rest of the way. Thomas iced the game with a pull-up 3-pointer with 24 seconds left to give the Rams a four-point edge.

Ndoye, a 7-footer, went 9-11 from the free-throw line for the majority of his points. The Senegal native was also effective from the floor, shooting 4-5. Conger tied a career high by hitting four 3-pointers (4-7), while Mosley had his ninth game of four or more made 3's this year (4-11).

Rebounding keyed Fordham's upset as the Rams – who entered as the league's best rebounding team – out-rebounded Bona for the game, 35-24, but more importantly dominated the second half, 19-6. Twelve of those 35 boards were offensive, leading to 21 second-chance points, compared with just six for the Bonnies – the +15 margin is the largest in a Bonaventure game this year. Additionally, the Fordham bench outscored SBU's, 40-12, with the +28 margin also representing the largest disparity in a game this year.

Defensive field-goal percentage has plagued the Bonnies in losses all year, and that was the case again on Saturday as Fordham shot 55 percent for the game (32-58), and also raced out to 17 fastbreak points – the third-most Bonaventure has allowed in a game this year.

Chris Johnson scored nine points and grabbed two rebounds in his final regular-season game at the Reilly Center, while classmate Michael Davenport started his third game of the year and added two assists and a rebound in seven minutes.
