@BonniesMSoccer Welcome UMass-Lowell & Rider to McGraw-Jennings Field This Weekend

St. Bonaventure, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team (4-2) welcomes the UMass-Lowell Riverhawks on Friday, Sept. 20 at 4:30 p.m. and then they wrap up the home stand with a 12 p.m. start on Sunday, Sept. 22 against the Rider Broncs.

The Bonnies come back home after dropping two games on the road. They suffered their first loss of the season at the hands of the Delaware Blue Hens. Delaware was able to get their first goal in the second half and as SBU pressured and pushed men forward the Blue Hens' counter attack was too much for Jeremy Figler and the defense as they tacked on two more. After the Brown and White faced a 3-0 lost on Friday they traveled to Newark, N.J. to take on the NJIT Highlanders. Despite having multiple opportunities, Bonaventure would never be able to capitalize on 18 shots in the game and were shut out 3-0.

UMass-Lowell enters the Friday evening matinée after losing to Central Connecticut by a score of 1-0. The Riverhawks would be able to hang on in the game until 15 minutes left in the match when Central Connecticut found the back of the net off a header from a corner kick. UMass-Lowell's lone win came against Canisius on the road by a score of 3-1. UML comes into the game with a record of 1-5. Their top player is Homero Marais with nine points on the season with four goals and one assist.

The Broncs of Rider roll into town with a record of 4-1 after defeating Long Island University – Brooklyn on Tuesday, Sept. 17 by a score of 1-0 in a double overtime affair. Rider and LIU would finish the first 90 minutes with a 0-0 but Sonimi Halliday would end all that in the 106th minute for the game-winning goal. The Broncs currently have eight goals scored on the year. Christian Flath leads Rider with 9 points after tallying three goals and three assists in five games.

The Bonnies will be back in action next weekend as they travel to in-state rival Binghamton on Friday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. before they come back home on Sunday, Sept. 29 to face Little Three rival Canisius. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.
