St. Bonaventure, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team (5-3) will be in action this weekend, first traveling to Binghamton (2-4-1) to take on the Bearcats on Friday then returning home to play Canisius (3-3-1) at McGraw-Jennings Field on Sunday.
The Bonnies are coming off a tough 1-0 loss on Sunday, Sept. 22 to Rider University. The Brown and White outshot Rider 17-6. They have struggled to find the net as of late, as their last three losses have resulted in shutouts.
SBU is led offensively by seniors Nicholas Perillo and Brad Beaumont, who lead the team in goals with four each. The Bonnies have scored 16 total goals as a team, largely in part to Perillo and Beaumont who are responsible for hammering home half of the team's total scoring thus far.
Senior Emmett O'Connor has also been a key contributor. He leads the team in both assists (5) and shots (25). His 25 shots in eight games is already his career high.
Binghamton is coming off of back to back double-overtime games against Lafayette and Saint Peters. The Bearcats began their season 0-2, then went on a three-game unbeaten streak, and have lost their last two games. They have scored five total goals as a team, each goal coming from a different player.
The Canisius Golden Griffins will ride into McGraw-Jennings Field after a 1-0 win over Detroit. The Griffs are led by Alex De Carolis, who has a team-high three goals and seven points. Keeper Ryan Arvin has also earned a shutout in both of his wins.
After this weekend, the Bonnies will travel to St. Francis (P.A.) on Sunday, Oct. 6 for their final non-conference game of the season.
