ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. - The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team will open their season by hosting the Delaware Fightin' Blue Hens on the newly-renovated turf field at McGraw-Jennings Field on Sunday, Sept. 7.
The Bonnies look to have a similar beginning to their season as 2013, where they started off the season with four straight wins. St. Bonaventure returns four starters and 11 role-players from the previous season. In addition to the 15 returners, the Bonnies welcome 10 new faces to the team.
The Bonnies looks to redeem themselves as they fell to the Blue Hens by a score of 3-0 in Newark, Del. giving St. Bonaventure its first loss of the season.

Scouting the Bonnies:
● The 2013 St. Bonaventure men's soccer team complied a record of 8-9-2 with key victories over Saint Joseph's and Dayton. The Bonnies went 2-5-1 at home, but were road warriors by posting a 4-4-1 record.
● Senior goalkeeper Jeremy Figler returns to the net as he started every game in net for the Bonnies last fall and recorded 80 saves and three shutouts.
● Returning to the starting XI for the Brown and White is Nicholas Perillo, the Bayshore native registered 17 points in 2013 with seven goals and three assists.
● Senior defender Garrett Pasono, who started all 19 games with 3 goals last season, was named to the College Sports Madness preseason second team all-Atlantic 10.
● This will be head coach Mel Mahler's tenth season at the helm for the Bonnies. He is currently tied for the second-longest tenured coach in program history.
Scouting the Fightin' Blue Hens:
● The Delaware Blue Hens are now 3-0 on the season after an impressive win over Iona, 6-2. They have gone on to defeat Sacred Heart and Long Island, both by a score of 2-0.
● Delaware is currently ranked No. 20 in this week's Top Drawer Soccer Top 25 Poll while they are receiving votes in the NSCAA/Continental Tire Top 25 Poll.
● The Blue Hens were tabbed as the favorites in the Colonials Athletic Association (CAA) in a preseason ranking conducted by the coaches.
● Sophomore midfielder Guillermo Delgado lead the Blue Hens' attack as he recorded two goals against Iona on Thursday night. After scoring 15 goals in his freshman season, he was honored with a second team All-American selection.
