The Short Story:
The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team dropped their season opener to Delaware on Sunday, September 7 at McGraw-Jennings Field by a score of 3-0.
The game remained scoreless until the ninth minute when Delaware's Guillermo Delgado notched his first goal of the game as he chipped the ball over Jeremy Figler's head to place the ball into the bottom left corner of the net.
St. Bonaventure had its chance in the first with a corner kick. Jimmy Barrios took the corner and crossed it into the box as Bonaventure Akinlosotu climbed up above the defense and headed the ball towards the net but was unlucky as it hit the crossbar. The Bonnies continued to be unlucky in the second half as Eddie Keen took a shot on net and hit the bottom of the crossbar and bounced back out.
At the 53rd minute of the match, Kyle Bruno faced a one-on-one against the goalie as he attempted to chip the ball over the goalkeeper. The ball appeared to be going wide before Joe Dipre was able to reach it and strike it into the back of the net. The Blue Hens went on to tack one more in the last minute of game coming off the foot of Delgado.

● Delaware outshot St. Bonaventure 14-6. The Blue Hens recorded 11 of the shots in the second half.
● Freshman Kyle Kleckner and redshirt freshman Bonaventure Akinlsotu each had two shots, while Eddie Keen and Kevin Carpenter each had one.
● Six members of the Bonnies made their first cap for the squad, including five newcomers to the team. Bonaventure Akinlosotu was the lone returner from last year to make his first start for the Brown and White.
