The Starting Five Notes
1.  St. Bonaventure closes out non-conference play with a big test as Canisius visits the Reilly Center for the 165th meeting of the Little 3 rivals. The Bonnies have won seven of their last eight games, while the Griffs have won four straight under new coach Reggie Witherspoon. Both teams are excellent three-point shooting clubs and feature dynamic guards with veteran forwards.

2.  The Bonnies have a chance to sweep the Big 4 for the third straight season. They also have the opportunity to win their ninth non-conference game, which would be the most for the program since the 2013-14 team went 10-4 prior to Atlantic 10 play.

3.  The backcourt of Jaylen Adams and Matt Mobley is the third highest scoring teammate tandem in the country, averaging 42.6 points per game. One of the top 50 candidates for the John Wooden Award, Adams ranks fourth nationally in scoring (23.5) and leads the Atlantic 10 in both assists and three-point field goals. Mobley ranks seventh in the A-10 at 19.1 points per game and is the Bonnies' second-leading rebounder at 6.7 per contest.

4.  Senior Denzel Gregg has been the leader most people assumed he would be as a senior. Gregg, who had 20 points and 10 rebounds against Army, is averaging 12.7 points, 7.5 rebounds and nearly two blocks per game with four double-doubles. Gregg is second in the A-10 in blocks and tops the A-10 in offensive rebounds.

5.  Senior forward David Andoh has come on strong the past three weeks. Over the past six games, Andoh averaged 12.3 points per game. He scored in double figures five of the last six games with a season high 15 against both Army and UNC Wilmington.

Series Notes: St. Bonaventure has met Canisius more than any other opponent and holds a 99-65 advantage in the series. The schools have played at least once per season every year since 1947. At the Reilly Center, the Bonnies are 31-4 against the Griffs including an active streak of six wins in a row. The last time Canisius won in the RC was Dec. 6, 2003.

Canisius Notes:
• Canisius brings a four-game winning streak to the Reilly Center. Under new coach Reggie Witherspoon – who previously held the same position at UB – the Griffs are making 41 percent of their shots from behind the arc with multiple players who are capable of making those shots. Canisius shares the ball very well, averaging 18 assists per game.
• Veterans Kassius Robertson (17.7 ppg), Jermaine Crumpton (16.7) and Phil Valenti (12.3) lead Canisius' attack. Freshmen guards Malik Johnson (4.1) and Isaiah Reese (7.3) are playing critical minutes.

St. Bonaventure vs. Canisius: The Last Meeting:
Nov. 24, 2015 at the Koessler Center: Bonnies 77, Canisius 73
Marcus Posley was nothing short of brilliant as the senior guard scored 35 points to lead St. Bonaventure to a 77-73 win over Canisius at the Koessler Center.
While the Bonnies led for the majority of the second half, Canisius tied the game at 69 with 1:44 left on a tip-in by Jermaine Crumpton. The Bonnies responded, though. Posley drove and was fouled; his two free throws put the Bonnies ahead 71-69. Canisius had a chance to tie, but missed two free throws with 34 seconds left. Dion Wright was fouled and made two free throws with 32 seconds to go that essentially sealed the win. St. Bonaventure went 4-4 at the free throw line over the last 24 seconds. The win was the first for St. Bonaventure (3-1) at the Koessler Center since 2002, a span of four losses.

Adams Reaches 1,000 Points
In the Dec. 19 win over Army, Jaylen Adams became the 43rd player in St. Bonaventure men's basketball history to reach 1,000 career points. Adams now has 1,017 points in 63 games.

Adams Gets Better and Better
Jaylen Adams earned plenty of preseason accolades (see further notes below) and he's lived up to the hype. Adams is now fourth in the nation in scoring (23.5 ppg) and leads the Atlantic 10 in assists (6.5 apg) and three-pointers (3.4/game). Adams has eight games of 20 points or more on the year including a pair of 31-point performances. After a slow start shooting, he went 26-53 (.490) from three-point range over the past seven games. After superb performances in leading St. Bonaventure to wins over Siena and Buffalo, he was named the co-Player of the Week in the Atlantic 10 Conference.

Offense Stays Hot
The Bonnies averaged 77.9 points per game last season, the best average during coach Mark Schmidt's tenure and the third-highest scoring average in the A-10. Before that, Schmidt's highest-scoring team was in 2013-14 when the Bonnies averaged 73.4 points per game. Early this season, the Bonnies have clicked on offense despite having so many new players. Led by guards Jay Adams and Matt Mobley, St. Bonaventure leads the A-10 and ranks 34th nationally in scoring at 83.4 points per game. The Bonnies have reached the 90-point mark four times including a 102-point showing in the win over Central Michigan.

Gregg Provides Senior Leadership
Like many St. Bonaventure players before, Denzel Gregg's career has been marked by improvement, a testament to the program's player development. A fan favorite for his highlight-reel dunks and blocks, the A-10's coaches namd him the co-Sixth Man of the Year in 2015-16. The team's only four-year senior, the 6-7 forward is off to a strong start to his final year. He has scored in double figures seven of the past eight games, averaging 13.0 points per game over that span. His 12.7 average for the year is more than three points a game better than last year. At the same time, Gregg continues to be a factor on both ends of the floor. He is fourth in the A-10 in rebounding (7.5) and second in blocked shots (1.9/game). Dec. 17 in the win over Niagara, Gregg became just the fifth player in program history to reach 100 career blocked shots. He stands fifth all-time at Bona's in that category with 103.

Andoh Brings Offense
Senior David Andoh battled a stress fracture in his foot over the summer that set him back at the start of practice, but as he has gotten in better shape, Andoh has begun to show he can be very productive. Over the past six games, Andoh averaged 12.3 points and 5.0 rebounds, going 30-56 (.535) from the field. He scored in double figures five of the last six games with a season high 15 against both Army and UNC Wilmington.
