STORYLINE
The St. Bonaventure men's soccer team host George Mason in an Atlantic 10 contest Saturday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex. The match is set to begin at 5:00 p.m. with Senior Day festivities taking place prior to the game.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies defeated Duquesne 1-0 in double overtime on Wednesday night in Pittsburgh. Junior Isaiah Barrett buried the game-winner in the 102nd minute off a pass from Nikko Richards. The Brown and White snapped a four-game losing streak and earned their first victory in the Atlantic 10 this season. For Barrett it was his second goal of the season and his first career game-winner.
SENIOR DAY
Prior to Saturday's game, the Bonnies will honor seniors Kyle Kleckner, Peter Routsis, Paul Afful and Kieran Toland for their dedication to the St. Bonaventure men's soccer program.
Kyle has been with the Bonnies the past four years, appearing in 62 career games. During his freshman season Kyle recorded an assist against St. Francis (Pa.) in the first ever night game at Marra Athletic Fields Complex. As a junior Kyle was named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll. Kyle is a management major.
Peter has been with the Bonnies for four years and is a second generation Bonnie. Peter is a communications major.
Paul has been with the Bonnies for two seasons, appearing in 31 games and making 30 starts. As a freshman Paul was the lone Bonnie to start in all 18 games and was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. As a senior Paul has scored three goals and has three assists this season. His goal against Bucknell was the first of his career and was also the game-winner. Paul was named the Atlantic 10 Co-Offensive Player of the Week on August 27. Paul was also named to the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley All-Tournament Team for his performance at the UTRGV Invitational, and has served as team captain this season. Paul is a sports studies major.
Kieran has been a member of the Bonnies midfield for four years, appearing in 62 games making 59 career starts. As a sophomore Kieran scored two goals in the season opener against NJIT. Kieran has scored 10 goals during his time at St. Bonaventure, scoring a team-best four goals in his junior season. Kieran was named to The Buffalo News' All-Big 4 Best XI for his performance after his junior season. As a senior Kieran earned University of Texas Rio Grande Valley All-Tournament team honors for his performance at the UTRGV Invitational. He has also served as team captain this year. Kieran is a sports studies major.
ABOUT GEORGE MASON
George Mason currently has an overall record of 5-6-2 and 0-4-1 in the Atlantic 10. The Patriots are faced with a four-game losing skid, with their most recent being a 4-0 defeat to VCU. Senior Henning Dirks paces the A-10 with 23 total points, accumulating eight goals and seven assists leading the way for George Mason.
UP NEXT
The Bonnies travel to Philadelphia for their final road contest of the season on Saturday, Oct. 28. That game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start.
