Box Score KINGSTON, R.I. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Rhode Island, 4-0, Saturday evening, following three second-half goal from the Rams.
Matthew Wrobel had a chance on net in the 23rd minute but was turned away by Rhode Island's goalkeeper, Stefan Schmidt.
Callum Beattie tested the goalkeeper in the 38th minute with nothing to show as Schmidt made another stop.
Rhode Island broke open the scoring on the counter-attack as Edvin Akselsen scored just over 30 seconds later, giving the Rams a 1-0 edge just before halftime.
The Rams added a pair of insurance goals early in the second half to put the game out of reach.
Kevin Castaneda gave Rhody a two-goal advantage in the 52nd minute and then Akselsen tallied his second score of the night in the 59th minute, giving Rhode Island a 3-0 lead.
Rhode Island added a fourth goal in the 79th minute off the foot of Patrick Agyemang, securing the victory.
Trevor Wilson made five saves in net for the Bonnies while Wrobel finished with a team-high three shots.
The Bonnies are back in action Wednesday evening on the road at George Mason.
