Golfers Wrap Fall Season at ODU Intercollegiate

POWELLS POINT, N.C. – Danny Gianniny's second round 2-under 69 highlighted three days of competition for the St. Bonaventure golf team Sunday through Tuesday at the Kilmarlic Golf Club.

The Bonnies finished their final tournament of the fall 15th out of 17 teams with an 897 54-hole total (298-295-304).

Gianniny's round was a bright spot of the tournament for the Bonnies as he fired his third round in the 60s this season. He bookended that effort with an opening round 73 and a final round 78 to tie for 40th in the field of 88 competitors at 7-over 220.

Teammate Christian Chapman also finished at 220 for the week, tying his fellow fifth-year team leader. He opened with 75 on Sunday before posting even-par 71 in the second round. He wrapped the season with 74 Tuesday afternoon.

Jack Geise was third on the team (75-78-75/228) while Lance Sininger completed the scoring (75-77-79/231). Also in the lineup was Jude Cummings (89-80-77/246).

Chapman finishes the best fall season in program history with a 71.0 stroke average over 16 rounds. The full season program record of 73.0 is held by Josh Anderson who finished with that total over 27 rounds in 2005-06. Gianniny recorded a scoring average of 72.6 over 13 spring rounds this past year in a shortened season due to the pandemic. Chapman was also making a run at the school season scoring record in 2019-20 before the season was cut short with him having registered a 72.4 average over 14 rounds.

During the fall semester, Chapman carded five rounds of 67 or lower, including setting the Bonnies all-time low round (65) and 54-hole total (205) at the VCU Shootout last month.

Gianniny ranks second on the team with a 73.0 average this fall.

The Bonnies begin their spring championship season March 7-8 at the Ross Collegiate Classic held at Mid-Pines Golf Course in Southern Pines, N.C.
