The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns home for the final game of the regular season against George Washington Saturday, Oct. 30. Kickoff is slated for 2:00 p.m. The Bonnies control their destiny as a win would send them to the Atlantic 10 Tournament.
PLAYOFF SCENARIOS
The Bonnies enter Saturday's contest tied for eighth place in the Atlantic 10 standings with UMass with nine points each. With a win over George Washington the Bonnies clinch a berth to the Atlantic 10 Tournament. The Bonnies also clinch a berth with a tie and a UMass loss. UMass hosts VCU Saturday afternoon. The Bonnies last qualified for the A-10 Tournament in 2017. Bona's has earned conference wins over Davidson (1-0), George Mason (2-1) and Dayton (2-1) this season for nine points in the standings.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies took on Dayton on the road last Saturday, earning a crucial three points in the Atlantic 10 standings with a 2-1 victory. The Bonnies opened the scoring in the 43rd minute when Umechi Akuazaoku got to an errant pass and got past the Flyers goalkeeper for his third goal of the year. In the 57th minute, Matthew Wrobel scored his fifth goal of the season, giving the Bonnies a 2-0 advantage.
The Flyers, however, scored a man-down in the 81st minute to cut the Bonnies' lead in half. Trevor Wilson, who made five saves total in the contest, stopped multiple shots in the closing minutes to preserve the victory.
Last Wednesday on the road at Duquesne, Wilson made a career-high 12 saves for the Bonnies. It was the first time the Bonnies have had double-digit saves in a game since 2019 when Wilson and Kyle Cunningham combined for 10 saves at Fordham. Wilson's 12 saves are the most by any single Bonnies goalkeeper since Luke Iacobellis stopped 12 shots against Marist in 2017.
ROOKIE OF THE WEEK
Bonnies freshman forward Matthew Wrobel was selected as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week Monday afternoon after his game-winning goal at Dayton last Saturday. On the year, Wrobel is tied for the team lead with five goals and also has a pair of assists. His five goals are tied for third-best among Atlantic 10 freshmen behind Duquesne's Maxi Hopfer (10), Rhode Island's Patrick Agyemang (7) and Davidson's Vincent Bennage (7). He sits tied with Rhode Island's Isak Oystese who also has five scores.
ABOUT GEORGE WASHINGTON
The Colonials enter Saturday's regular season finale with an overall record of 4-10-2 and are 2-4-1 in Atlantic 10 play. George Washington has fallen in two of its last three contests, including defeats at Wake Forest (3-0) and against Saint Louis (4-0). The Colonials last win was a 2-1 victory at home against George Mason in overtime. GW was picked to finish sixth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
George Washington is led on offense by Oscar Haynes-Brown with 11 points off of five goals and one assist. Tom Cooklin leads the team in helpers with four assists on the season. In net, Justin Grady has started all 16 games for the Colonials, making 57 saves.

The Bonnies would travel to the higher seed if they can clinch a berth into a A-10 Tournament. Games are scheduled to be played Saturday, Nov. 6 or Sunday, Nov. 7
