Bonnies Tripped Up By Hawks, 1-0

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Saint Joseph's, 1-0, Saturday evening at the Marra Athletics Complex.

After a scoreless first half, the Hawks (5-8-0, 3-2-0 A-10) broke through in the 59th minute off a goal from Garrett Lyons, breaking the deadlock and giving Saint Joseph's the winning score.

The Bonnies (2-7-1, 2-2-0 A-10) tried getting the equalizer and had a chance to do so on a set piece in the 64th minute, but Joshua Pulla's shot was saved by the SJU goalkeeper.

Moments later Matthew Wrobel tried his luck, but his shot sailed high in the 69th minute.

Bonnies goalkeeper Justyn Sandhu made two of his five saves on the night in the 40th and 42nd minute, turning away multiple scoring chances by Saint Joseph's and keeping the game scoreless.

The Bonnies are back in action Tuesday, Oct. 12 when they host Army at the Marra Athletics Complex.

Prior to that contest the Bonnies will honor its seven graduating student-athletes – Trevor Wilson, Francesco Caorsi, Jaaziel Thompson, Fredrik Hansen, Cuneyt Vardar, Isaac Boamah and Jacob Jashinski. Kickoff is slated for 4:00 p.m.
