KENT, Ohio – Junior Nadechka Laccen's career-high 22 points were not enough as the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Kent State, 64-49, Sunday afternoon at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
Laccen finished the afternoon 7-of-16 from the floor and 6-for-6 from the free throw line to go along with seven rebounds and five assists.
The Golden Flashes (5-2) jumped out to an early 12-4 lead, but Laccen was able to halt the 6-0 run with a three, scoring the Bonnies' first seven points of the contest.
Kent State took control of the game in the second quarter, using a 9-0 run to take a 27-14 advantage.
The hosts closed the first half on a second separate 9-0 sprint to take an 18-point lead into halftime.
It was all Kent State in the second half as the Golden Flashes lead grew to as many as 21 points in the third quarter.
Taylor Napper finished a layup in the fourth period which brought the Bonnies within 13, but the visitors would get no closer.
The Bonnies (2-7) are back on the road Wednesday, Dec. 7 when they visit Little Three rival Canisius in Buffalo. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- I'yanna Lops registered two rejections Sunday, moving into sole possession of fourth all-time in Bonnies program history with 85 career blocks.
- Laccen has posted double-figure scoring in three straight games.
- Kent State held the Bonnies to 30.2 percent (16-for-53) shooting from the floor while the Golden Flashes finished at a 35.6 percent (21-for-59) shooting clip.
