ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – I'yanna Lops' game-high 22 points lifted the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team to a 50-48 victory over Binghamton Friday night at the Reilly Center.
Lops finished the game 10-for-15 from the field, matching her career-high to go along with four rebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals.
Kaitlyn Parker also scored in double-figures for the Bonnies, marking a new career-high of 10 points while pulling down eight rebounds.
Lops capped off a 6-0 run with a layup inside with 5:22 remaining in the contest, pushing the Bonnies lead to 48-41.
The Bearcats (6-6), however, would not go away easily, coming down the court and converting a three to cut the deficit back to four.
A pair of Binghamton free throws made it a two-point game with 1:35 showing on the clock. The score would remain there, though, as the Bearcats could not push through against the Bonnies defense.
With less than a second left in the game, Binghamton's last-second heave from beyond the arc fell short, giving the Bonnies the win.
Lops led the way for the Bonnies in the first half, scoring 12 of her 22 points in the first 20 minutes.
Parker drained a 3-pointer with under 30 seconds remaining in the half to give the hosts a 29-22 edge at halftime.
The Bonnies (3-8) held the lead for all of the second quarter, pulling away by as many as nine in the period.
The Bearcats jumped out to an early 6-3 lead in the first quarter.
The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Dec. 16 on the road at Robert Morris. Tip is slated for 7:00 p.m.
