PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – The St. Bonaventure baseball team dropped a pair of games Saturday vs. Merrimack at the Snowbird Classic, 5-2, and 9-1.
In game one, the Bonnies led early thanks to two runs coming off a homer from
Brendyn Stillman following a Merrimack fielding error.
Unfortunately for the Brown and White, those would be the only runs to cross the plate against Merrimack pitching.
The Warriors scored three times in the third, highlighted by a homer off the bat of Michael Golankiewicz. They would add two more in the fourth on a double from Scott Elliott and a single by Alex Haba.
That would be all the damage done, but it would stick as the Warriors picked up the victory.
In the late game, Merrimack (2-1) grabbed a lead after one with a run in the first, adding two more in the second and six in the third and never looked back.
Pierce Hendershot collected two hits and
Jarett Cope posted his first collegiate hit with a triple.
The Bonnies play Marshall Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
