ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to George Mason, 61-50, in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center.
Seniors Asianae Johnson and Tori Harris paced the Bonnies offense on Senior Day. Johnson poured in a game-high 23 points on 10-of-17 shooting while Harris added 15 points and three rebounds.
George Mason (9-18, 3-12 A-10) led for over 37 minutes in Saturday's victory.
Just out of halftime, Maddie Dziezgowski was left open on the wing for a 3-pointer that tied the game at 32-32.
The Patriots were quick to return the favor, snapping off five quick points to jump back ahead, 37-32.
The Bonnies made it a two-point game a few minutes later when Harris cut backdoor where Ene Adams was able to find her for the easy bucket.
George Mason, however, responded with a 7-0 run to inflate its lead to nine, 46-37.
Bona's was able to cut the deficit to five in the fourth quarter, but that is as close as it would get as George Mason began to use the clock to its advantage, earning road victory.
The Bonnies finish the regular season 12-15 overall and 4-12 in Atlantic 10 play.
The Brown and White return to action Wednesday, March 2 in the first round of the 2022 Atlantic 10 Tournament at the CHASE Fieldhouse in Wilmington, Del. The Bonnies' first round opponent is to be announced later Saturday evening.
GAME NOTES
- Prior to Saturday's game, the Bonnies honored senior captains Asianae Johnson and Tori Harris as part of Senior Day. Also in attendance was Philadephia 76er Tobias Harris who is the brother of Tori.
- The Bonnies finished the afternoon shooting 38.8 percent (19-for-49) from the field while George Mason shot 43.6 percent (24-for-55) from the field.
- Johnson and Harris combined for 38 of the Bonnies' 50 points.
- Ene Adams pulled down a team-high seven rebounds, but the Bonnies were outrebounded by the Patriots, 36-27.
- Johnson moved into 10th all-time on the Bonnies scoring list, passing Melissa Fazio, Stefanie Collins and Suzie Dailer during Saturday's game.
