ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Two St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse players have earned honors from the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) after helping the Bonnies to a pair of wins last week as Sean Westley was named the league's Offensive Player of the Week and Brett Dobson tabbed Defensive Player of the Week.

Westley came through in the clutch to key wins over Bellarmine and at VMI, finishing the week with six goals, five assists and 11 total points.

Saturday at VMI, he sent the Bonnies to their first-ever overtime victory as he scored a sudden death goal with less than a minute remaining for a 9-8 triumph. That goal capped off his second hat trick of the week to go along with three assists.

Last Tuesday in a 13-12 win vs. Bellarmine, he also had the game-winner as he scored twice in the final five minutes to send the Bonnies to their first non-conference victory in program history. The Ontario native scored three times, assisted two other goals and caused two turnovers. For Westley, the award marks the second MAAC Offensive Player of the Week honor of his career as he earned the honor in the final week of the regular season last year.

Dobson receives top defensive honors for the second time this season and third of his career after making 36 saves last week with a .643 save percentage. He turned away 19 shots and picked up five groundballs in Tuesday's win over Bellarmine.

At VMI, he finished with 17 saves and forced overtime as he made a game-saving stop with just three seconds left.

St. Bonaventure improved to 2-1 on the season with the victories and play at Richmond Tuesday.
