FAIRFAX, Va. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team fell to George Mason, 4-0, Sunday afternoon on the road in the first game of a three-game series.
The Patriots (9-6, 1-0 A-10) jumped ahead early, 1-0, with a two-out RBI single up the middle in the second inning.
George Mason tacked on two more runs in the bottom of the fourth on an error and added the another run in the bottom half of the fifth off another two-out RBI single to centerfield.
Ally Haskell got the start for the Bonnies, tossing a complete game and striking out a season-high five batters.
The Bonnies (1-9, 0-1 A-10) best chance to score came in the second inning, loading the bases, but the Patriots were able to work out of the jam.
Bona's and George Mason closeout the series Monday, March 14 with a doubleheader starting at 11:00 a.m.
