ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's lacrosse team was unable to stop the second half attack of Duquesne Saturday afternoon at Marra Athletics Complex.
Duquesne (7-9, 4-5 A-10) scored 12 second half goals compared to the Bonnies' five to secure the win in the final conference game of the season.
The Bonnies went on a run to make it 8-7 going into halftime, trailing by just one.
Rebecca Howe (power play),
Sarah Owens, and
Nora Anderson (shorthanded) capped off the first half with three straight scores for the Brown and White.
The Dukes, however were able to begin the second half with three straight goals and from there the Bonnies could not cut the deficit from being down more than three goals.
Duquesne scored the final seven goals of the game to claim a 20-12 victory.
St. Bonaventure (1-14, 0-9 A-10) was led by Anderson, Howe, Owens,
Madison Mundenar, and
Maddie Mazur who each tallied two goals.
Caroline Yoder also put one in the back of the net for her first goal of the season.
Sophomore
Abby Hiltz was phenomenal, finishing with five assists along with a goal to start the game for a career-high six points.
The last St. Bonaventure player to tally six points in a game was
Destinee Johnson (three goals/three assists) against Akron in March 2021.
Hiltz bumped her season totals to a team-leading 37 points with 15 goals and a team-high 22 assists.
The Dukes were led on the field by Sam King (five goals), Alana Piano (four goals), and Mackenzie Leszczynski, Delaney Rodriguez, and Tina St. Clair with three goals each.
Senior goalkeeper Haley McIntyre made 12 saves for the Bonnies, while Mady Piersielak and Rachel O'Toole each recorded two saves for the Dukes.
Duquesne narrowly edged the Bonnies in draw control wins, Anderson collected eight for St. Bonaventure and Piano won eight for the Dukes.
