Bonnies Add Two Non-Conference Home Games To Complete Gotham Classic Schedule

Notre Dame vs. St. Bonaventure at UBS Arena in Showcase Game

PRINCETON, N.J. – The schedule has been finalized for the 10th Gotham Classic, which features Notre Dame taking on St. Bonaventure in the Showcase Game at UBS Arena at Belmont Park on Nov. 25.

The Fighting Irish and Bonnies will be joined in the event by Bowling Green and Southern Indiana.

Before the Bonnies battle Notre Dame outside New York City, they will play host to a pair of games at the Reilly Center vs. Bowling Green Saturday, Nov. 19 and Southern Indiana Tuesday, Nov. 22.

Members of the Mid-American Conference, Bowling Green welcomes seven newcomers looking to bounce back from a 13-18 campaign last season. BG enjoyed a winning season in 2020-21 after winning 21 and 22 games respectively in the two years prior.

St. Bonaventure last played Bowling Green in 1997, scoring a victory at the Reilly Center.

Southern Indiana is transitioning to Division I as new members of the Ohio Valley Conference. The Screaming Eagles went 18-8 last season and made 28 NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, fifth-most of any active D-II program. USI won one D-II national championship and also posted two national runner-up finishes.

Nov. 22 – Southern Indiana at St. Bonaventure
Nov. 25 – Notre Dame vs. St. Bonaventure (UBS Arena)
Nov. 26 – Southern Indiana at Bowling Green

Tickets for the Gotham Classic will go on sale through the St. Bonaventure Ticket Office at a later date.

Notre Dame is making its third appearance in the Gotham Classic, having played in 2013 and 2018. The other three teams are making their Gotham Classic debuts The Fighting Irish went 24-11 with a 15-5 mark in ACC play last season, beating Rutgers and Alabama in the NCAA Tournament.


UBS Arena at Belmont Park is New York's newest premier entertainment and sports venue and home of the New York Islanders is developed in partnership with Oak View Group, the New York Islanders and Jeff Wilpon. Providing a significant boost to the regional economy, especially when economic activity has been greatly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the world-class entertainment venue, with its timeless and classic design, bridges its iconic past with today's advanced technology and amenities. 

The $1.1 billion multi-purpose, state-of-the-art arena opened in November 2021 with a celebration that included the Islanders first home games in the building and a sold-out Harry Styles concert. The venue will host more than 150 major events annually while delivering an unmatched live entertainment experience including clear sightlines and premier acoustics. UBS Arena is designed to accommodate 19,000 people for concerts and 17,255 for NHL games. In an effort to build a greener future, UBS Arena intends on being carbon neutral for operations before 2024, which will make it the first arena to do so on the eastern United States seaboard.


In the 2021 Gotham Classic, Jamarius Burton's runner with 0.4 seconds remaining broke a 57-57 tie and gave Pittsburgh a 59-57 win over St. John's.
