ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team scored a trio of goals to cap off their second consecutive win Sunday afternoon against Eastern Michigan.
The Bonnies (2-0-2) were able to get some help from their opponent in the 11
th minute as a corner kick from freshman
Ami Komori deflected off the foot of an Eagles defender and trickled into their own net for the first score of the game.
Komori would go on to score the second goal of the game for the hosts after putting a nice move on a pair of defenders and firing a shot past the Eagles keeper in the 15
th minute.
The Eagles (1-1-1) recorded a late first half goal off the foot of Secora Johnson, bringing Eastern Michigan within one heading into halftime.
In the second half of the game St. Bonaventure played more on the defensive side of the ball and were led by sophomore goalkeeper
Chiara Gottinger who finished the game with six saves, bringing her total to 39 saves on the season to lead all NCAA Division I goalkeepers.
Senior
Kenzie Tarmino secured the victory for St. Bonaventure, bending a free kick over the Eagles' goalkeeper from about 30 yards away for her first collegiate goal in the 88
th minute.
St. Bonaventure was led offensively by Komori with four shots, while junior
McKenna Robinson tallied three shots.
Johnson finished the game with two shots on goal for the Eagles, while Vittoria Greco notched four shots and Jamie Lefebvre recorded
The Bonnies will remain at home for a matchup against Youngstown on Thursday, Sept. 1. The game is scheduled to begin at 5:00 p.m.
