Bonnies Play To Scoreless Draw With Penguins

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's soccer team finished with a scoreless draw against Youngstown State at Marra Athletics Complex Thursday evening.
 
The first half of Thursday's action was very defensive-minded as neither team could get much going on offense.
 
The best chance for the Bonnies before intermission came from a free kick off the foot of senior Kenzie Tarmino.
 
The Penguins (0-4-1) created opportunities to score off of corner kicks in the opening frame, but were unable to capitalize.
 
In the 62nd minute, St. Bonaventure was able to get a corner kick into the box, but the hosts were unable to put a shot on goal after multiple touches by the host team.
 
The Bonnies (2-0-3) had their best chance to score in the 74th minute when freshman Ami Komori was able to work past a defender, but she fired her shot wide left of the goal.
 
YSU had its best opportunity inside of eight minutes to play, but a shot attempt drifted wide right of an open net.
 
Sophomore goalkeeper Chiara Gottinger recorded her ninth career shutout and third shutout of the 2022 campaign.
 
The second-year keeper finished the game with two saves, bringing her NCAA Division I leading total to 41 stops.
 
St. Bonaventure and Youngstown State each recorded nine shots.
 
Tarmino and Komori each finished two shots for the Bonnies., while the Penguins were led by Abriana Rondin and Chloe Weiland who both tallied two shots.
 
Goalkeeper Brooklyn Kirkpatrick made five saves for Youngstown State.
 
The Bonnies remain at home for a contest against St. Francis Brooklyn on Sunday. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
