NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell 1-0 on the road at Central Connecticut State Monday afternoon.
Central Connecticut State broke the deadlock in the 24th minute, pouncing on a loose ball in the Bonnies defensive third and Taein Ka found the back of the net, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead.
Peter Massaquoi looked to level the score in the 82nd minute, but his shot sailed over the crossbar.
The Bonnies had another chance to tie the game in the 85th minute when Umechi Akuazaoku found space to get a shot off, but was turned away by the Blue Devils goalkeeper.
Bonnies goalkeeper Jules Dechert made three saves in net on the afternoon. Akuazaoku and Rafael Pereira led the Brown and White offensively with two shots apiece.
Mick Sipples was in net for Central Connecticut State, turning away three shots.
The Bonnies return home to host Bucknell Friday, Sept. 2 with kickoff at 7:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
