Dziezgowski’s Game-Winner Lifts Bonnies Over Dayton, 54-53

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Maddie Dziezgowski's shot just inside the three-point line with five seconds remaining sent the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team to a 54-53 victory over Dayton Thursday evening at the Reilly Center.

Nadechka Laccen finished with a team-high 14 points while Dziezgowski tallied 11. I'yanna Lops also scored in double figures for the Bonnies (4-17, 1-5 A-10) with 10 points to go along with four blocks.

Thursday marked the first win under interim head coach Erica Morrow, who was elevated to the role Sunday.

With 15 seconds remaining in the contest and the Bonnies inbounding the ball, Dziezgowski took the feed from Laccen and took an off-balanced shot from the wing just inside the three-point line. The shot fell, giving the Bonnies the victory Thursday night.

The Bonnies trailed by four with just over five minutes to play before the defense clamped down on the Flyers, holding the visitors to just one field goal during the final stretch of play.

Dziezgowski was on fire to start the game, shooting a perfect 3-for-3 from beyond the arc to help pace the Bonnies early.

Laccen was able to drain a 3-pointer right before the first quarter buzzer sounded to give the Bonnies an 18-11 edge after one.

The Flyers (3-14, 2-4 A-10) were able to battle back in the second period, outscoring the Bonnies to pull within two at the break, 27-25.

The Bonnies remain at home Sunday afternoon to take on Rhode Island. Tip is slated for 1:00 p.m.
