Women's Tennis Takes Down Loyola (MD) in Spring Opener

ANNAPOLIS, MD – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team began the spring season with a win over Loyola (MD) in a pair of matches Friday and Saturday.

The Bonnies captured the victory over the Greyhounds, 5-2, but fell to Navy, 6-1, in Saturday's action.

The Brown and White started the match by taking the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 3. Anastasia Gubanova and Isabella Venter paired up for a win at the top flight, 6-3, while freshmen Kashish Bote and Kelly Barnes were victorious, 6-3, at the No. 3 spot.

Jansson, Venter, Gubanova and Barnes each captured straight set victories in singles action, earning the victory for the Bonnies.

In Saturday's match at Navy, Jansson battled back from a set down to defeat Casey Accola, 6-7, 6-4, 10-5 at the top singles flight.

The Bonnies are back in action Friday, Feb. 3 against Fordham.
