PHILADELPHIA – The St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to La Salle, 65-52, Saturday afternoon at Tom Gola Arena.
Maddie Dziezgowski led the Bonnies with 15 points on four made three. Breauna Ware also finished in double figures with 11 points in her second straight start.
Bona's came out of the locker room at halftime and jumped on La Salle early in the third. The Bonnies used a 10-2 run behind baskets from Ware and Payton Fields, pulling the Brown and White back within a point, 37-36, with 4:51 to play in the third quarter.
La Salle closed the third quarter with a 6-0 spurt to take a double digit, 49-39, lead into the final quarter.
The hot shooting continued into the fourth for the Explorers, pulling away by as 18 in the quarter and earning the victory.
The Bonnies and Explorers traded baskets early on in the first period, but the hosts used a 12-4 run over the final four minutes to take 19-11 advantage after one.
La Salle's lead grew to as many as 13 in the first half, 28-15, holding the Bonnies scoreless for nearly three minutes.
The Bonnies, however, went on an 8-0 run to pull back within five, 28-23, with under a minute play in the first half.
The Explorers converted in close to the basket as time expired in the half, taking a 30-23 lead into halftime.
GAME NOTES
- The Bonnies finished the contest shooting 37.5 percent (18-for-48) from the field while La Salle shot 29.9 percent (20-for-67) from the floor.
- Payton Fields registered a career-high eight points in 18 minutes off the bench.
