ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Redshirt junior Isabellah Middleton tallied a season-high 20 points, but it was not enough as the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team fell to Canisius, 63-56, Thursday evening at the Reilly Center.
Middleton finished the night 9-of-17 from the field and pulled down a season-best nine rebounds. Nadechka Laccen chipped in 12 points and four rebounds while Dani Haskell added 11 points.
It was a back-and-forth first quarter Thursday as Canisius (3-3) was able to pull ahead, 9-2, early on.
The Bonnies (2-5), however, ended the first period on a 10-3 spurt, tying the game at 16-all after 10 minutes.
Middleton's jumper with 5:18 showing in the second brought the Bonnies within one, 23-22, but Canisius used a 10-0 run to take an 11-point lead into the break.
The Golden Griffins' lead swelled to 15 with 3:38 remaining in the third quarter when Adrien LaMora drove for a layup, making the score 47-33.
The Bonnies finished the game on a 6-0 run, but could not overcome the deficit.
Bona's is faced with a quick turnaround, traveling to Morgantown to take on West Virginia Saturday afternoon at 12:00 p.m.
GAME NOTES
- The Bonnies finished the contest shooting 38.3 percent (23-for-60) from the floor while Canisius shot 40.3 percent (25-for-62) from the field.
- Kirah Dandridge pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds, playing 25 minutes off the bench.
- The Brown and White won the turnover battle, forcing 18 Golden Griffin turnovers and finishing plus three in that category.
