Bonnies Pass Exhibition Test, 62-48, Over D’Youville

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – Three players scored in double figures to lead the St. Bonaventure University women's basketball team to a 62-48 exhibition victory over D'Youville Saturday afternoon at the Reilly Center.

Junior Taylor Napper led all scorers with 18 points on 8-of-10 shooting to go along with five rebounds and a block. Redshirt junior Isabellah Middleton chipped in 13 points and a game-high nine rebounds while Kirah Dandridge tallied 10 points and eight boards.

The Bonnies were able to jump out to an early 17-6 lead after ending the first quarter with a 14-4 run over the final six minutes thanks to five points each from Tianna Johnson and Middleton.

The Saints, however, did not go away quietly, using a 10-0 run of their own in the second quarter to take their first lead of the game, 21-19, with 1:47 remaining in the half.

Dandridge responded with a layup on the other end to halt the run and tie the game.

Both teams made a basket before time expired, sending the teams to the locker room for halftime tied, 23-23.

Coming out of the break, it was a 10-0 run for the Brown and White that turned the tide for good. Napper netted 12 of her 18 points in the third quarter to help the Bonnies build their lead.

Bona's held D'Youville to just six points over the final five minutes of the contest.

The Bonnies get the 2023-24 regular season underway Wednesday, Nov. 8 on the road at Little Three rival Niagara. Tip is slated for 6:00 p.m.
