Bonnies to play record seven games on home turf

ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The 2024 St. Bonaventure men's lacrosse schedule will see the Bonnies play on home turf more than ever before in program history as seven games at the Marra Athletics Complex highlight the newly released slate.

The Bonnies will open the campaign at home Feb. 11 vs. Bellarmine. The Brown and White will also host Robert Morris (Feb. 20), Canisius (March 12) and Marquette (March 23) in non-conference play before taking on inaugural A-10 champion Richmond (March 30), UMass (April 13) and Hobart (April 27) in Atlantic 10 action.

Bona's road slate consists of dates at Binghamton (Feb. 17), VMI (Feb. 24) and Cleveland State (March 9) as well as A-10 travel dates at High Point (April 5) and Saint Joseph's (April 20).

The Bonnies have familiarity with each of the opponents on their schedule, having played each of the squads at least once previously.

Bona vs. Bellarmine has become a yearly tradition in the early part of the schedule as the Bonnies and Knights will meet for the fourth time. The Bonnies won the only previous matchup in Western New York two seasons ago.

The Bonnies will look to avenge last year's overtime heartbreaker vs. Binghamton, which was the first meeting between the programs. Both Bellarmine and Binghamton reached the semifinals of their conference tournaments, the ASUN and America East respectively. Robert Morris, which won the first meeting with SBU last year outside Pittsburgh, also reached the ASUN semis.

SBU has a 2-0 record vs. VMI and also will take on Cleveland State for the fifth time, each team taking two wins apiece in the first four meetings. Bona's Little Three rivalry with Canisius is now a non-conference battle and the squads will renew acquaintances for the sixth time in the Bonnies' Division I era with Canisius owning a slim 3-2 series margin in that time. A marquee date vs. Marquette of the Big East rounds out the non-conference schedule as the Golden Eagles visit WNY for the first time. Bona dropped a 9-5 final in Wisconsin last year in the first-ever game between the programs.

The Atlantic 10 schedule will again see each team play each other once with the Bonnies having the benefit of playing three of their conference games at home and two away. The A-10 Tournament is scheduled for May 2 (semifinals) and May 4 (championship game) in Amherst, Mass. with the conference champion earning an automatic berth to the NCAA Tournament.
