ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team won a pair of matches over Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst Saturday and Sunday at the SBU Fitness Center.

The Bonnies began the weekend with a 5-2 victory over Slippery Rock in the Brown and White's 2023 home debut. Bona's was able to secure a 7-0 shutout of Mercyhurst Sunday afternoon.

Bona's got out to a quick start, sweeping all three doubles matches to take an early lead.

The Brown and White captured four singles wins en route to the victory winning at No. 1, No. 3, No. 5 and No. 6.

Alexandra Jansson, Isabella Venter and Sienna Smith each secured straight sets at No. 1, No. 3 and No. 5, respectively.

Also winning for the Bonnies against Slippery Rock was Kelly Barnes at No. 6, taking the match in three sets, 6-4, 4-6, 10-8.

Against Mercyhurst Sunday, the Bonnies earned wins and No. 1 and No. 3 doubles to collect the doubles points from the Lakers.

The Bonnies went on to sweep all six singles matches to earn the victory.

The Brown and White are back in action Saturday, Feb. 18 when they host Bucknell.
