Bonnies Stumble At Robert Morris, 15-6, Despite Rosa’s Hat Trick

MOON TOWNSHIP, Pa. – Senior Jake Rosa's hat trick was not enough as the St. Bonaventure University men's lacrosse team fell by a score of 15-6 at Robert Morris Tuesday afternoon.

The first quarter was a back-and-forth affair to start as the Colonials scored the first goal of the game, but sophomore Anthony Cimino would answer for the Bonnies with a goal of his own off an assist from fellow sophomore Kyle Pepper.

Robert Morris (2-0) would go up 2-1 off a man-up advantage goal, but Rosa notched his first goal of the game to even the score up at two apiece.

The Colonials ended the first quarter with two more goals to take a 4-2 lead.

Robert Morris would begin to pull away in the second quarter, scoring six goals compared to the Bonnies two goals.

Rosa and fellow senior Brady Wijbrandts each delivered a goal for St. Bonaventure to go into the break trailing 10-4.

The offensive woes for the Bonnies continued in the second half as they were only able to score two goals, both of them coming from a player with the last name Rosa.

The Colonials tacked on five more goals to secure their second victory of the season.

St. Bonaventure (0-3) was led by Rosa (three goals) and Cimino (one goal/one assist), while Rosa's younger brother, Josh Rosa, scored his first collegiate goal in the final seconds of Tuesday's contest.

This marks the second straight game that Rosa has scored three or more goals as he netted four goals against Bellarmine last Saturday.

Reigning A-10 Rookie of the Week Quinn Nolan went 11-22 in the faceoff circle.

David Burr led the way for Colonials with three goals and an assist, while Ben Starkey, Taggart Clark, and Kean Moon each added two goals.

In the cage, Nate Randall made 11 saves for the Colonials.

The Bonnies return home for a matchup against VMI on Saturday, Feb. 25. Opening faceoff is scheduled for noon.
