Lewisburg, PA – Sophomore
Fiona McGovern registered her second hat trick of the season, but Bucknell's offensive attack proved too much as the Bonnies fell 22-6 Saturday Afternoon.
Bucknell opened the game on a fast pace, quickly building a 4-0 lead before McGovern used a free position shot to net her first goal of the match.
The Bison though quickly responded, finding the net four times to take an 8-1 lead at the end of quarter one which was capped off by an Alex Nesbitt Goal.
St. Bonaventure (1-5) began the second period on the attack when McGovern took the ball herself and put it past Bison goalkeeper to give the Bonnies and herself the second of the match. Freshman
Grace Hollenbeck followed suit by adding a goal to cut the Bucknell lead to five, 8-3.
Bucknell (3-2) regained their momently back, going on a 6-0 run to enter half with a commanding 14-3 lead.
The Bison would not look back in the second half, connecting on eight shots in the final two periods to secure the victory. Â
Brooke Piper and
Courtney Fox also found the back of the net for the Bonnies.
Goalkeepers
Ashley Herrick and
Hayley McIntyre combined 11 saves in split time.
Allie Boyce, (seven goals, one assist), Alex Nesbitt (four goals, two assists), and Taylor McClain (one goal, five assists) were the leaders for the Bison.
Bucknell goalkeeper Symone Ryans tallied four saves in three quarters of play, while Julia Dembowitz and Colleen Kazanjian split time in the fourth quarter.
St. Bonaventure was outshot 45-14 by Bucknell.
The Bonnies will travel south to battle VCU on their conference opener on Saturday, March 11. Start time is set for 1:00 p.m. EST.
