EMMITSBURG, MD – The St. Bonaventure University women's tennis team defeated George Mason Saturday afternoon to earn a split in a pair of weekend matches against the Patriots and Mount St. Mary's.
The Bonnies took down the Patriots, 4-3, but fell to the Mountaineers in Sunday's contest, 4-3.
Bona's was able to start the match quick against George Mason with wins at No. 1 and No. 3 doubles, earning the doubles point.
Moving into singles action, the Bonnies grabbed wins at No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 singles, claiming the Atlantic 10 victory.
Anastasia Gubanova was victorious in straight victories, 6-3, 6-3, while Isabella Venter and Kashish Bote captured triumphs in three-set thrillers.
In Sunday's match at Mount St. Mary's, Venter claimed her second victory of the weekend with a straight-set win at No. 3 singles, 6-2, 6-3. Also winning in straight sets was Kelly Barnes, 6-4, 6-2, at the No. 6 spot.
Sienna Smith earned a three-set victory, 6-3, 3-6, 10-5, at No. 5 singles for the Brown and White.
The Bonnies finish the regular season with a 9-14 record overall.
Next up is the Atlantic 10 Tournament at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Fla., beginning Thursday, April 27. Match time and opponent are to be announced at a later date.
