Bonnies Women’s Lacrosse Season Ends in A-10 Quarterfinals

Richmond, Va. – St. Bonaventure struggled to stop the aggressive offensive attack of Saint Joseph's, falling 20-8 in the Atlantic 10 quarterfinals Thursday afternoon at Cary Street Field.

The Hawks got off to a quick start in Richmond, racing out to a 4-0 lead behind four straight goals from Kate Fuhrman.

The Hawks would increase the lead to 7-0 before senior Nora Anderson beat the first quarter buzzer to get the Bonnies on the scoreboard.

St. Bonaventure would slow the Hawks pace in the second, and was able to chip into the SJU lead behind back to back goals from sophomore Fiona McGovern.

But the Hawks would get the last strike of the half as Bonnie Yu found the back of the net with just one second left in the second quarter.

St. Bonaventure would add would get on the scoreboard midway through the third with a score from Abby Hiltz.

Saint Joseph's (10-8) would respond by keeping the foot on the gas, racking up five additional third quarter goals.

The Bonnies would add three fourth quarter goals, but the game was too far out of reach.

Fiona McGovern led the Bonnies offensive attack with 2 goals and an assist.

Nora Anderson, Abby Hiltz, Jessica Notaro, Sarah Owens, Courtney Fox, and Megan Schillinger all added scores, while Grace Hollenbeck would chip in two assists on the afternoon.

Defensively, the Bonnies netted five caused turnovers and 13 groundballs.

Seniors Ashley Herrick and Hayley McIntyre combined for eight saves in net for St. Bonaventure.

Saint Joseph's was led by Kate Fuhrman (five goals) and Bonnie Yu (three goals).

Jorden Concordia collected nine saves for the Hawks.

St. Bonaventure finishes the season with a record of 6-12, including 4-6 in A-10 play.

The Bonnies earned their first A-10 Tournament appearance since the 2007 season.

Freshmen Brit Colangelo and Jessica Notaro earned spots on the All-Rookie Team and head coach LeighAnn Stauffer was named A-10 Co-Coach of the Year.
