ST. BONAVENTURE, N.Y. – The St. Bonaventure University softball team dropped an extra innings heartbreaker, 3-2, to Saint Joseph's in the regular season finale Sunday at Joyce Field.

The Bonnies and Hawks were locked in a pitcher's duel heading into the sixth scoreless when Saint Joseph's broke through for the game's first run on a sacrifice fly.

Bona's, however, did not go down without a fight.

Down to the last out, Shannon Costello lined a single back up the middle, scoring Lyndsay Flippin from third and tying the game at 1-1.

Saint Joseph's recorded the final out of the inning, sending the game to extra innings.

The Hawks grabbed a 3-1 advantage with back-to-back RBI doubles in the top of the eighth.

Once again, the Brown and White continued to battle, cutting the deficit to 3-2 in the bottom half of the eighth when Autumn Black reached on a fielder's choice.

Following a pitching change, Saint Joseph's reliever Emily Siler recorded three straight outs, earning the victory for the visitors.

Emily Piergustavo tallied two hits for the Brown and White while Olivia Moon, Madison Stewart and Flippin each registered a hit.

Elizabeth Lis earned the Senior Day start, tossing 7.1 innings and striking out three.

Following the game Sunday, the Bonnies honored graduating student-athletes Elizabeth Lis, Autumn Black, Lyndsay Flippin, Macy Miller, Abby Suhr, Juanita Wolak, Shannon Costello, Emily Piergustavo and Madison Stewart after playing in their final collegiate games for the Brown and White.
