The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns home to host Little Three rival Niagara Wednesday, Sept. 13 at the Marra Athletics Complex. Kickoff is slated for 7:00 p.m. Following the contest with the Purple Eagles, the Bonnies begin Atlantic 10 play on the road at Fordham. The matchup with the Rams is slated for a 3:00 p.m. in the Bronx.
BONNIES LOOK BACK
The Bonnies battled Binghamton last Tuesday evening in Vestal, N.Y., but the Bearcats were able to come out on top, 3-1. Scoring for the Bonnies was junior Rashid Aroza, finding the back of the net off feeds from Bo Drath and Rafael Pereira for his second goal of the season.
Bona's second game of the week at Saint Francis was canceled due to inclement weather.
TEAM LEADERS
Aroza and fellow junior Andres Javitt lead the Bonnies with four points and two goals apiece this season. Mo Tall leads the Bonnies with three assists for three points while Pereira has also registered three points on a goal and an assist.
FAMILIAR FOES
Bonnies head coach Kwame Oduro is no stranger to the Purple Eagles and the Little Three. Oduro spent the 2005 and 2006 season as a student-athlete for Niagara, helping the Purple Eagles to one of the most successful campaigns in program history during the 2006 season. Oduro captained Niagara to a second-place finish in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings and the team ranked fifth in the NSCAA North Atlantic Region. He was also named to the MAAC All-Tournament Team as well. Oduro was a two-time selection to the MAAC All-Academic Team while also earning ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District Second Team accolades in 2005.
During his tenure as head coach of the Bonnies, Oduro touts a 3-1-3 record against the Purple Eagles. The Bonnies got the better of Niagara last season in Lewiston, winning 2-1.
NIAGARA NOTES
Niagara enters Wednesday with a 0-4-1 record overall. The Purple Eagles drew with Robert Morris, 1-1, Aug. 27, but have fallen to No. 22 Akron, Albany, Stonehill and Duquesne this season. The Purple Eagles were picked to finish seventh in the MAAC preseason poll.
Asher Barnes, Giovanni Covelli and Felix Kogler have all registered a goal for Niagara this season while Piercarlo Arghittu has tallied an assist. In net, Jamie Berry and David Indra have split time this season with Berry starting four out of five contests, making 21 saves.
ABOUT FORDHAM
The Rams begin the week 2-0-2 overall, having earned victories over Sacred Heart and Penn. Fordham has also registered ties on the road at Saint Francis (PA) and Georgetown. Fordham was picked to finish eighth in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll while Timo Hummerich was selected to the Atlantic 10 Preseason All-Conference team as well as being named a defender to watch by the United Soccer Coaches Association.
Through the Rams' first four games, Hummerich leads the squad with seven points on three goals and one assist. Florian Deletioglu has also registered two goals for Fordham this season. In net, Carter Abbott and Alex Dolce has each started a pair of contests with Abbott recording nine saves and Dolce seven.

The Bonnies are back in action Wednesday, Sept. 20 when they host Little Three rival Canisius.
