The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team, fresh off a 2-0 season-opening victory, is set to travel to nationally ranked No. 23 West Virginia Monday, Aug. 24. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. in Morgantown.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies earned a 2-0 victory on the road at Little Three rival Niagara to open the 2026 season last Thursday.

Bona's started fast with a goal from senior Jack Steel, who found the back of the net in his Bonnies debut in the eighth minute.

The Brown and White added an insurance goal in the 61st minute off the foot of senior Kyle Macfarlane.

Winston Jory earned his first start in net for the Bonnies, making a pair of saves en route to his first shutout of the season and his first with the Brown and White.

Josh Seyer and Daniel Helle both registered an assist in the opener.

BONNIES DEBUT
A total of 11 players made their St. Bonaventure debuts last Thursday at Niagara. Joining Steel, Jory and Seyer were Ryan Holt, Manex Landa, Ethan Lustig, Harvey Skurek, Jackson Minneci, Harrison Nitz, Benjamin Marsh and Alistair McFall.

GOING THE DISTANCE
The Bonnies had six players go the full 90 minutes in the opener at Niagara, including Jory, Macfarlane, Seyer, Steel, Callum Shillington and Luc Finelli.

Finelli made his first start since the 2024 season after missing all of last year due to injury.

WEST VIRGINIA NOTES

• The Mountaineers entered the season at No. 23 in the United Soccer Coaches Preseason Poll after advancing to the second round of the 2025 NCAA Tournament. West Virginia, however, dropped its season opener, 3-0, to Charlotte last Thursday.
• West Virginia was picked to win the Sun Belt this season, receiving four first-place votes in the preseason poll. Senior Pablo Pozos was selected as the Preseason Offensive Player of the Year, while he, Nacho Martinez and Isaac Scheer garnered Preseason All-Sun Belt honors.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies will make their 2026 home debut Sunday, Aug. 30 when they host Le Moyne. Kick off is slated for 5:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
