VESTAL, N.Y. – Rashid Aroza scored his second goal of the season but it was not enough as the St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team fell to Binghamton, 3-1, Tuesday evening on the road.
Binghamton opened the scoring Tuesday just out of halftime in the 49th minute when Anthony Lazaridis found the back of the net.
The Bearcats made it a two-goal advantage in the 63rd minute after Jack Green found enough space in front of net following a long throw in.
The Bonnies, however, were able to cut the deficit in half as Aroza was lurking in the box as Bo Drath sent in a cross and Aroza buried the shot in the back of the net in the 66th minute. Drath registered his first point with the Bonnies while Rafael Pereira was also credited with an assist on the play.
Binghamton (1-3) was able to halt Bona's momentum, netting a third goal off the foot of Markos Touroukis in the 78th minute.
Andres Javitt looked to cut into the deficit once again in the 80th minute, but the Binghamton goalkeeper was there to make the save.
Mo Tall had a chance to give the Bonnies an early lead in the 21st minute but his shot rang off the post.
Tall finished with a team-high two shots while Xaver Ehrlich, Kenzo Brito, Umechi Akuazaoku, Aroza and Javitt finished with a shot apiece.
Jules Dechert was in net for the Bonnies, making a season-high seven saves in the contest.
The Bonnies (1-2-1) are back in action Saturday, Sept. 9 on the road at Saint Francis (PA). Kickoff is slated for 3:00 p.m.
