Men’s Soccer Set For Matchup With La Salle Saturday in Philadelphia

The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team travels to take on La Salle Saturday, Oct. 12 in Philadelphia. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at McCarthy Field.

LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies battled George Washington to a 0-0 draw Wednesday afternoon in the nation's capital.

Bona's outshot the Revolutionaries 18-8 overall and 10-1 in shots on goal, but were unable to find the go-ahead goal.

Kenzo Brito paced the Bonnies with four chances while Andres Javitt and Callum Shillington registered two shots apiece.

In net, Nicolas Pucci earned his second shutout of the season, making one save.

SCORING FRENZY
The Bonnies have registered 15 goals as a team this season, scoring multiple goals in half of their matches in 2024.

St. Bonaventure has registered two games with three goals this season, including a 3-1 victory over Davidson last Saturday.

SCORING LEADERS
Senior Andres Javitt leads the Bonnies this season with nine points on three goals and three assists. Fellow senior Umechi Akuazaoku sits second on the team with eight points, registering three goals and pair of assists. Rashid Aroza has also tallied multiple goals for the Brown and White this season.

COMING DOWN THE STRETCH
Following Saturday's matchup with the Explorers, the Bonnies have just four games remaining in the regular season.

The Bonnies welcome Bucknell for a non-conference tilt Tuesday, Oct. 15 on Senior Night and also host Dayton (Oct. 19) as well as Massachusetts (Nov. 2).

Bona's lone road contest remaining on the docket is Oct. 26 at George Mason.

LA SALLE NOTES

  • La Salle enters the weekend 4-5-3 overall and 2-1-1 in Atlantic 10 play, earning conference victories over Saint Joseph's (3-1) and Davidson (3-1) while also drawing with Saint Louis (0-0). The Explorers also have wins over Lafayette (3-1) and Mount St. Mary's (1-0) this season. La Salle finished last season 5-8-4 and were picked to finish 13th in the Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
  • Colin Beasley leads La Salle offensively with four goals and an assist for nine points. Andoni Garrogerricaechebarria has also netted two goals for the Explorers to go along with a pair of assists. In net, Randy Burkhardt and Tino Kneis have split playing time this season. Kneis has stopped 19 shots in six starts while Burkhardt has turned away 10 shots in five contests.

UP NEXT
The Bonnies return home to host Bucknell for the final non-conference match of the season Tuesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.

Bona's will honor Sean Morfin, Bo Drath, Xaver Ehrlich, Mattia Ferretti, Kenzo Brito, Umechi Akuzazoku, Mo Tall, Andres Javitt, Keegan Dawson, Liam Horgan, Tristan Szczepanski, Rashid Aroza and Gabriel Kiekenbeck as part of Senior Night prior to kickoff.
