The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns home after two straight games on the road to host Bucknell for a non-conference tilt Tuesday, Oct. 15. Kickoff is slated for 6:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
Prior to kickoff Tuesday the Bonnies will honor Sean Morfin, Bo Drath, Xaver Ehrlich, Mattia Ferretti, Kenzo Brito, Umechi Akuazaoku, Mo Tall, Andres Javitt, Keegan Dawson, Liam Horgan, Tristan Szczepanski, Rashid Aroza and Gabriel Kiekenbeck as part of Senior Night prior to kickoff.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies and La Salle battled wire-to-wire Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia with Bona's coming out on top 1-0 behind a 25th minute goal from Andres Javitt.
Mo Tall made a run down the right side of the field and crossed the ball into the box where Kenzo Brito headed a chance on net. A La Salle defender deflected his shot and Javitt was there to punch home the rebound chance, registering his team-best fourth goal of the season.
The Bonnies backline held the Explorers to just four shots on goal in the contest while the defense and Pucci posted their second straight conference shutout. Bona's did not allow a goal on its two-game road trip to George Washington and La Salle last week.
SENIOR NIGHT
Gabriel Kiekenbeck is in his first season with the Bonnies after beginning his college career at Peninsula College as well as D'Youville. He is a management major.
Liam Horgan is a four-year member of the men's soccer program and is majoring in finance.
Tristan Szczepanski is a four-year member of the men's soccer program. He is a three-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a health science major.
Sean Morfin is four-year member of the men's soccer team. He appeared in three contests as a redshirt sophomore in 2023. Sean is a three-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a psychology major.
Bo Drath is a two-year member of the men's soccer program, appearing in 29 games and making 28 career starts with the Bonnies. He has accumulated over 2,100 minutes in his Bonnies career and has registered a pair of assists. Bo is working towards his master's degree in sports administration and was an Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree last season.
Mattia Ferretti is a four-year member of the men's soccer program, appearing in 37 career games and making 27 starts on defense. As a freshman in 2021, Ferretti tallied his first collegiate point on an assist on the road at Cleveland State. This season, Ferretti has registered a goal and a pair of assists for four points. He is a three-time Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a sports studies major.
Mo Tall is a two-year member of the men's soccer program and has appeared in 18 games, making 18 starts. During the 2023 season, Mo registered three assists while being limited to just five games due to injury. This season, he has tallied a goal and an assist in 12 starts. Following the academic year, Mo was a member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and is working toward his master's degree in general business.
Andres Javitt is two-year member of the men's soccer program and has started all 30 games since arriving at St. Bonaventure in 2023. Last season, Andres ranked tied for second on the team with five goals and two assists for 12 points. This season, he leads the Bonnies with 11 points on four goals and three assists. Following last season, Andres earned College Sports Communicator's Academic All-District accolades as well as being named to the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll.
Kenzo Brito is a two-year member of the men's soccer program, appearing in 24 games and making 23 starts. Last season, Kenzo led the Bonnies with 14 points on four goals and six assists. He returned this season and has registered a goal and three assists in seven appearances. He was an Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll honoree and is a management major.
Umechi Akuazaoku is a four-year member of the men's soccer program, appearing in 54 career games and making 32 starts. He has netted 13 goals and five assists for 31 career points. As a junior last season, Meech registered a career-high 13 points on a career-best five goals and three assists, including three game-winning goals against Houston Christian, Canisius and Duquesne. This season, he has three goals and two assists for eight points and netted the game-winning goal at Quinnipiac Sept. 7. He is a marketing major.
Keegan is a four-year member of the men's soccer program, appearing in 59 games and making 44 starts on defense. During his playing career, he has accumulated nearly 4,000 minutes of field time while registering one goal and three assists. Keegan netted the first goal of his career this season in a 2-1 victory on the road at Quinnipiac. He is a three-time member of the Atlantic 10 Commissioner's Honor Roll and is a marketing major.
BUCKNELL NOTES
- Bucknell enters Tuesday's contest 4-5-3 overall and 2-1-2 in Patriot League play. The Bison have picked up wins over Robert Morris, Mount St. Mary's, Navy and American this season. Last year, Bucknell finished 2-10-4 overall and were picked to finish tied for ninth in the Patriot League preseason poll.
- David Krumov (one goal, three assists), Jack Lucas (one goal, three assists), Drew Roskos (two goals, one assist) and Ben Sheffield (two goals, one assist) all pace the Bison with five points each. In net, Freddie Lapworth has started all 12 contests, making 47 saves and allowing 13 goals.
UP NEXT
The Bonnies remain at home and return to Atlantic 10 play Saturday, Oct. 19 when they host Dayton. Kickoff is scheduled for 12:00 p.m.
