The St. Bonaventure University men's soccer team returns home to host Davidson Saturday, Oct. 5. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. at the Marra Athletics Complex.
LAST TIME OUT
The Bonnies and Rhode Island battled in a back-and-forth contest with the Rams coming out on top, 4-3, behind Joan Sanchis' game-winning goal in the 87th minute.
The match seemed to be heading for a tie after Umechi Akuazaoku netted his second goal of the contest from a rebound off a Kenzo Brito free kick in the 73rd minute.
Last Saturday's matchup saw three goals between the Bonnies and Rams in the first 14 minutes. The Rams opened the scoring in the 10th minute before Akuazaoku answered with his first score of the game in the 13th minute. Rhode Island regained the lead in the 14th minute as a deflection caused a St. Bonaventure own goal.
The Rams extended their lead early in the second half with a goal in the 51st minute, making it 3-1.
Mo Tall responded with his first goal of the season in the 56th minute, cutting the Bonnies deficit to 3-2.
Callum Shillington registered two assists in the contest for the Brown and White.
IN THE RANKS
Entering the weekend, the Bonnies currently rank third in the Atlantic 10 as a team in total assists with 15. The Bonnies also stand third in the A-10 in shot accuracy (45.7 percent) and corner kicks per game (6.3).
HOME UNBEATEN STREAK
The Bonnies are undefeated at home over their last three contests against Le Moyne, Fordham and Robert Morris. The Brown and White registered draws against Le Moyne and Fordham while picking up a 2-1 win over Robert Morris.
DAVIDSON NOTES
Davidson enters Saturday's contest 2-3-4 overall and are 1-1-0 in Atlantic 10 play, capturing wins over Mercer and Saint Joseph's while drawing with High Point, Campbell UNC Greensboro and Furman. The Wildcats finished last season 10-5-1 overall and were picked to finish seventh in the 2024 Atlantic 10 preseason poll.
The Wildcats are led offensively by Denis Krioutchenkov who has two goal and three assists for seven points while Nico Quanbeck has tallied two scores. In net, Lucas Beltran has started eight out of nine matches, making 22 saves.
UP NEXT
The Bonnies head back out on the road to take on George Washington Wednesday, Oct. 9. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m. in the nation's capital.
